Until very recently, Kansas was on the verge of becoming a one-party state. As it is, Democrats have recovered somewhat but now, politics there is mostly a battle between moderate Republicans and conservative ones.

I think there is a slight trend toward conservatism in Kansas but if the Democratic party got its act together there, things might be reversed.
