They suffer from both too much candor and not enough.

Too much candor:
-means testing
-government-run program

They could leave those phrases out of the question completely (you can bet your mule that Bush would).

Too little candor:
-Forcing the "choose" issue, somehow thinking they're tricking people into loving abortion (maybe they just haven't heard it presented as a woman's choice in thirty years of debate!).
-Outsourcing. I think Democrats are afraid to admit that they're okay with it that foreign workers get jobs. But the 100% right position on this is that foreign workers can have american companies' jobs, IF they get the exact same benefits as we would here (so companies wouldn't have any incentive to leave).

Democrats continually give Americans too much credit and too little in just the wrong places.

What do they hope to accomplish?

They'd like it if the idiots who return the survey with a check think someone's listening to them.
