Rep. Gingrey's marriage diplomacy

Phil Gingrey, a House Republican from Georgia, has figured out the best US diplomatic approach to the crisis in the Middle East:

Another Georgia Republican, Representative Phil Gingrey, said support for traditional marriage "is perhaps the best message we can give to the Middle East and all the trouble they’re having over there right now."

Next up: Why banning abortion is the key to winning the war on terror.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever read. Well, today anyway.

Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo) can help us further specify what kind of marriage we're talking about. The Washington Post reports Akin saying, "Marriage is not about love. It's about a love that can bear children." To extend the arguments, the best thing we can do for the Middle East today is to procreate...so long as we do so with our legal spouse.

i think you're missing a good point here, brendan. i mean, if those middle easterners would just follow our lead and have more stable marriages, they wouldn't be so inclined to want to kill us! after all, the west has such a low divorce rate, how could they not want to follow us?!?!?!

seriously, though, thanks for being such a consistent exposer of idiocy.
