I think there are plenty of Republicans would recognize that impeachment was a bridge too far. I know of at least two (admittedly moderate) GOP MoCs who have said as much privately. Like the government shutdown it was a game of chicken that they took a bit too far.
Will we see the Dems do the same with the war?
