For those who are interested, you can listen online to an interview I did with NPR's "On the Media" about my co-authored research investigating difficulties correcting the misperception that Barack Obama is a Muslim. (See also our previous research on correcting misperceptions.)
Nice interview, Brendan. I liked most of what was said. It was perhaps noteworthy that after you blasted Michael Moore and Ann Coulter, the interviewer picked up only on Coulter.
As we've debated before, I'm not convinced that the misperception of Obama being Islamic underpins all sort of claims and insinuations. As far as I can tell, the supposed underpinning has not been validated. I'm not sure it could be validated.
BTW a possible example where shaming actually worked was the battle against the Ku Klux Klan. I cannot remember where I read this, but as I recall, the KKK began to be mocked by various critics. This mockery was said to be effective in reducing their popularity.

I believe the KKK shaming was in Freakonomics. IIRC, it was being parodied on national radio broadcasts.
