I'm sure the difference between $10 and $30 doesn't seem significant to anyone, but if a person's only income was $5.15/hr * 40 hrs/wk time 50 weeks, the difference between $10 and $30 to that person would be the same as the difference between $49 and $145 to a person making $50,000.

But I don't think many people really have to get by on that little if they have kids.

Ok, you may not be able to get a $10 coat at walmart but you can pick one up for $7.98 at Steve and Barry's. You could also go to St. Vincent dePaul, Goodwill....lots of places.
