Media Matters notes that the Washington Times quoted a man in Indiana saying "I can't stand [Barack Obama]... He's a Muslim. He's not even pro-American as far as I'm concerned" without pointing out that Obama is a Christian. Similar reports appeared in the LA Times, the websites of the Washington Post and the Baltimore Sun, and Maureen Dowd's column.
Meanwhile, Media Matters also points out that Dick Morris said on Fox News that "the determinant in the election will be whether we believe that Barack Obama is what he appears to be, or is he somebody who's sort of a sleeper agent who really doesn't believe in our system and is more in line with Wright's views?"
I agree that implying that Obama might be a Muslim is an ugly smear, but I'm unclear on the objection to Morris's statement. Granted that it was crudely worded, it seems to me to be sound advice.
There are some who believe that despite its flaws, America is the greatest country in the world. At the other extreme, there are some who see America as one of the most evil countries. Many voters aren't sure where Obama stands on this scale. As Morris, said, it's to Obama's advantage to demonstrate that he is near the "America is great" end.

I'd prefer that our president sees things as they are, not as someone who has seen every action this country has taken as "America is great no matter what we do"

David, what part of "sleeper agent" do you not understand?
