The Today Show story mocking Barack Obama's teleprompter use really jumps the shark at the end:

Nothing says action like a news correspondent reading the emails she is laboriously typing into the computer ("We ... are ... getting ... some ... feedback ... on .... Twitter..."). The wacky gimmick is that she is writing to the author of the the fake Obama teleprompter blog, whose responses are then read back in a computer voice while showing a graphic of a teleprompter. I smell Pulitzer...
We have breaking news. Teleprompter has run away with ELIZA.

IMHO this was a silly segment unworthy of being aired. However, it may be significant. The media have been reluctant to play their usual watchdog role when reporting on Obama. This broadcast may be part of a healthy change whereby the media begin to criticize Obama the way they criticized other Presidents before him.

"The media have been reluctant to play their usual watchdog role when reporting on Obama."
The Fox News Channel isn't part of the "media?" News to me.

daniel: that's more "mad dog" than "watch dog".
The rest of the corporate media has failed to report things like Obama's continuation of Bush's treatment of the prisoners in Guantánamo, the DoJ's disrespect of gay Americans, and many other failures to fulfill promises made during his campaign. I only know about them because i wear specially folded tinfoil on my head.
No, wait, that's David.
